President and Chief Executive Officer
Chris Gerard is President & Chief Executive Officer of Amedisys (AMED), a publicly traded, leading provider of home health, hospice, palliative, personal care and high-acuity care services with over 22,000 employees in 39 states and the District of Columbia, making over 12.3 million patient visits per year.
Mr. Gerard has a track record of more than 20 years’ experience in home health and hospice. He was co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of IntegraCare Home Health, where he built a single home health start-up location into 54 branches, generating $71 million in annual revenues. He sold the company to Kindred Healthcare in 2012. He then served as Vice President of South Central Region for the Kindred at Home division, currently a $2.5 billion home health, hospice and community care services business with approximately 700 locations and 42,000 employees nationwide. Mr. Gerard was promoted to Chief Operating Officer at Kindred at Home, where he was responsible for integrating a $140 million home health company and standardizing processes across a division involving 187 locations, a staff of 3,300 and revenue of $360 million. He served as President for the South Central Region of Kindred at Home with responsibility for day-to-day operations, including the integration of the Gentiva Home Health acquisition within his region, oversight of clinical excellence, financial performance and operational efficiencies for 153 home health and hospice locations in six states with annual revenue in excess of $400 million. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Amedisys where he grew the Company to become the second largest home health provider and the third largest hospice provider in the U.S. Under his leadership, Amedisys also invested in new business lines by acquiring Contessa, a risk-bearing, tech-enabled company that offers high acuity care in the home.
Mr. Gerard serves on the Board of Directors for Medalogix.
Mr. Gerard received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas Tech University.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Scott Ginn is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and oversees all aspects of the company’s financial operations, capital and financing strategy, public reporting and investor relations.
Mr. Ginn has been a leader of the Amedisys financial team for 15 years. Most recently, he served as the company’s Chief Accounting Officer, overseeing all accounting operations, cost control systems and financial reporting. As Senior Vice President of Accounting and Controller and Senior Vice President of Finance and Accounting at Amedisys, Mr. Ginn played a pivotal role in leading financial operations and building strong relationships with analysts, lenders and shareholders. In his various roles, he helped oversee the growth of the company from a $500 million organization to $2 billion.
Prior to joining Amedisys, Mr. Ginn served as a Director at Postlethwaite & Netterville, a professional accounting and business advisory firm. He is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Louisiana State University.
Chief Compliance Officer
Denise Bohnert is Chief Compliance Officer for Amedisys, managing the Company’s ethics and compliance program, which is designed to promote ethical practices and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Mrs. Bohnert brings more than 15 years of valuable healthcare compliance experience to the role. Prior to joining Amedisys in 2017, she served as the Compliance Officer for Signature HealthCARE, where she created and administered a compliance program for nearly 150 skilled nursing facilities and home health locations, and Division Vice President for Kindred Healthcare.
Mrs. Bohnert holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana State University and a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University School of Law with a Health Law Curriculum Designation. In addition to her Registered Nursing License and her Law license, Mrs. Bohnert also maintains her Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC).
Interim Chief Human Resources Officer
Megan Ambers is Interim Chief Human Resources Officer for Amedisys, overseeing talent management, total rewards, organizational and leadership development, employee engagement and talent acquisition.
Mrs. Ambers brings more than 20 years of human resources leadership experience to Amedisys, having served as Vice President of Workforce Strategy and HR Innovation at Amedisys for the past three years. Thus far, she has implemented a robust employee listening initiative and platform to gain full life-cycle caregiver feedback, leveraged people analytics and insights to help the company manage its diverse workforce to reduce turnover with a predictive model, improved leadership development effectiveness and implemented a new Human Resources Service Model to support the company’s full caregiver population. Mrs. Ambers human resources experience spans the professional services, financial services, retail and healthcare industries. Previously, Mrs. Ambers served in several senior human resources roles at PNC Financial Services, overseeing talent acquisition, and talent management functions.
Mrs. Ambers holds her bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron.
Chief Information Officer
Michael North serves as Chief Information Officer for Amedisys, managing the company’s technology and analytics systems to support enterprise-wide operations and growth. He joined Amedisys in 2015 as Senior Vice President of Operations and led the integration of the company’s successful conversion to the HomeCare, HomeBase operating system.
Mr. North brings more than 30 years’ experience in integration, project management and process and system development. He most recently held leadership roles at Humana, where he oversaw the successful integration of numerous acquisitions and of shared service organizations within the company as a director in Corporate Development. Prior to that, he was integration leader for strategic acquisitions at Humana. Mr. North helped lead the creation of the Humana Vitality program, managed multiple acquisitions and worked on other company-wide initiatives.
His previous experience includes management roles at Kindred Healthcare, where he led clinical systems development for the company’s pharmacy line of business and the company’s other organizations. Mr. North holds an MBA from the University of Louisville in Kentucky and a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Illinois University.
Chief Strategy Officer
Nick Muscato is Chief Strategy Officer for Amedisys, overseeing the Company’s strategic initiatives and investments and investor relations function.
Mr. Muscato has led investor relations and strategic finance for Amedisys since 2015, serving as Senior Director of Corporate Development and Strategy, Chief of Staff and Vice President of Strategic Finance and, most recently, Senior Vice President of Finance. He has created and executed a comprehensive investor relations strategy that has forged invaluable relationships and enhanced the Company’s reputation while playing a pivotal role in strategic investments that align with Amedisys’ long-term strategy such as Contessa Health, which expands service offerings to high-acuity care in the home, ConnectRN and Medalogix.
Prior to joining Amedisys, Mr. Muscato was a corporate development leader at Humana where he lead acquisition in managed care, healthcare IT, data and analytics and provider businesses. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Louisville. Mr. Muscato serves on the Board of Directors for Medalogix and ConnectRN and is a graduate of the 2017 Nashville Healthcare Fellows program.
